Despite many struggles in the first half, Duke used its hot second half to cruise by BC in Cameron, 80-55. Cam Reddish had his best game with 24 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals, while Zion Williamson had a double-double with 16 points and 17 rebounds. RJ Barrett had 19 points, 5 rebounds, and a block.
The first half was “dead”, as Coach K put it. Put that together with a bad overall shooting half of the game at 1-15 from distance and you get a 2-point BC lead going into the half. A slight change in momentum, however– Cam’s steal and finish to end the half– seemed to make all the difference (as well as whatever Coach K is saying to them in the locker room). Cam came out immediately and hit a jumper to tie it, then RJ hit three free throws, and Cam hit a 3 and you could tell that it wouldn’t last much longer.
I’m not going to say too much on the missed Zion dunk because to be honest I don’t really care. He had one that looked like it’d be one for the ages and just didn’t land it quite correctly. He did, however, have a double-double. He helped the team win and that’s all that is important to me.
Bleed blue. The Duke-UVA rematch is upon us. You know that we’re good when Virginia basketball is an ESPN “Sonic Blockbuster”.
