Danny Manning and the Demon Deacons picked up a senior transfer from UNC-Charlotte in Andrien White, who both withdrew from the NBA Draft and requested a transfer last month. White averaged 15 points in 2018 but will have to sit out this year before he makes his debut in Winston-Salem in 2019-2020. The Deacs need a lot of help, and a tried and true veteran could provide assistance in the future, despite just one remaining year of eligibility. And regardless, it’s safe to say that White is very, very excited.
“I’m extremely excited. I’m excited to be able to play at a prestigious university like Wake Forest,” White told 247Sports. “I’m excited to play under a coach that knows basketball, has been around the game, taught players at all levels and played at all levels as well. That’s very exciting. Overall, to be able to play in the ACC is a dream come true. I’m very excited. It’s almost surreal.”
That’s a lot of excitement.
Wake Forest went 11-20 last year with a 4-14 mark in the ACC. After the departure of Bryant Crawford, White adds needed shooting and defense, with 42 steals last year with the 49ers.
Congrats on your new blog, Sarah! I cannot wait to read more of your posts as the year continues, what an amazing start you have!
